Wendy Jensen, LCSW

Wendys initiation into healing arts began as a child who was blessed with experiencing a variety of paranormal events that helped her to learn and trust clairaudient and clairvoyant communication with spirit. In 1998, Wendy began training in EyeMovement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). It was here, that she really began to understand how the body stores traumatic material subconsciously, that the physical body can manifest that stored material in physical and emotional disease and that the body can release that stored memory and its subsequent effects given the opportunity and assistance with proper techniques. She has trained with Sandra Ingerman in Soul Retrieval techniques and with several Shamanic practitioners incorporating the healing energies of nature, doing divination work and teaching others to learn to do Shamanic journeywork. Wendy trained in Dynamic Energetic Healing, a powerful protocol that encompasses a variety of healing modalities drawn from the Energy Psychology field. Energetic Healing focuses on helping clients to identify negative emotions, limiting beliefs and old traumas held in the energetic pathways of the body, explore the origins or root causes of these disturbances that may have occurred in current or past life or carried through on an ancestral linage and then release them. Wendy combines energetic healing, Shamanic healing, EMDR and conventional client-centered therapy to provide clients with an integrated approach to spiritual healing, personal growth and emotional well-being. Wendy holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, a Master of Science degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has been in private practice since 1995.

Deborah Samuels, MS, LPC

Deborah earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Portland State University and has been a psychotherapist since 1997. She does individual, couples, and group counseling at Awakenings. She works with a variety of people and issues including those with childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. She is certified as both Professional and Trainer in Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) and certified in Core Beliefs Psychotherapy.

Deborah's background is both naturalistic and traditional. Before she became a therapist she worked as a Registered Nurse in both hospital and home settings for over 15 years. That included community mental health, HIV case management, and inpatient psychiatric hospital. In the "early years" she was a massage and polarity therapist. She is also a level II Reiki practitioner.

Philosophy: "I believe that people have deep resources within themselves, and that these resources can be harnessed to heal, to learn new behaviors, and to grow beyond limiting beliefs about themselves. Although I use many different techniques, such as Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT), breath work, Emotional Freedom Technique, and hypnotherapy, I believe that my primary role is to be fully present in as human and genuine a way as possible. This creates safety and connectedness, enabling change and growth."

Krista Tricarico, ND

I am a naturopathic physician with a focus on holistic mental health. Just as our minds can strongly influence our physical health, our individual physiology, nutrition, digestion, hormones, and general health are key factors in our mental and emotional well-being. I combine conversation with lab testing and physical exams in my assessments and use counseling, diet and nutritional supplements, homeopathy, botanical medicine, and hormone therapies in my treatments. I work collaboratively with my patients to develop realistic treatment plans and find their own healing path. I recognize the importance of counseling and, when appropriate, prescription medication and often work in conjunction with counselors and psychiatrists to provide well-rounded health care that works. My practice, OpenMind Medicine, is dedicated to helping people experience happiness and balance in their lives through improved health.
